Today Benjamin went to the Young Chef's Academy for his friend Alex's 5th birthday party.  Ben and his friends had a great time learning how to make pizza dough from two very entertaining and funny ladies.  After helping to measure the ingredients and learning a bit about cooking, the children topped their own pizzas and put them in the oven.  While the pizzas were baking, they got to decorate and eat their own cupcakes.  Dessert first for Alex's birthday!  Finally they got to eat their pizza creations.  Ben LOVED his!!  He now says he wants to go THERE for his birthday party next year!

Soccer! 09/14/2008

Yesterday was Benjamin's first soccer practice and game. We met with his coach - Laureen - at 10:45 to get his RED uniform and to get ready for the game.  We then started our "practice" time with coach Danielle and her assistant from England.  They ran around playing various games with their soccer balls - so cute!  Then at about 11:30 they split each team in two and two games of 4 on 4 were going on at once.  It was hot and Benjamin was tired out by this time from all the running around before.  Plus, he was very concerned about the other boys and girls kicking him.  He was a little reluctant but he got through it and had a smile on his face at the end.  He promises to go back next week and give it one more try :)

Wow - the summer is over, and it is time to go back to school!  Benjamin had a great summer and is all ready to go back to Pre-K 2 with Ms. Linda at the Goddard School.

So, what was Ben up to this summer?  Well, he continued going to "Summer Camp" at the Goddard School on Wednesday and Friday mornings.  Every Friday he took the bus from Goddard to the North Penn YMCA where he completed his first swim class!  He loved swimming lessons and can't wait to continue.

Benjamin visited "Camp Carroll" 2 times and had a blast camping out with his Aunt Dawn, Uncle Bryan and cousins Aidan & Nolan.  We had the annual summer birthday part at the Krause house - family, pinata, cake, presents and fun!  Ben also made a few trips to the Elmwood Park Zoo, Fisher's Park and of course Wentz Run Park.  He had a lot of fun riding his bike and playing ball & frisbee with Mommy and Daddy.

Legos and Toy Story are Benjamin's new passions.  He still loves trains, cars and vehicles of any type.  He also loves to draw people and animals.  He is very curious about everything and still very cautious with anything new.

Tomorrow a new school year begins and with it, many new adventures!

Benjamin has been soooo busy this past month!  He finished Tball, started "camp" at his school (he only goes 2 days a week now), started swimming lessons on Fridays, and much more!  We have started going to the library regularly again and Benjamin has joined his very first book club.  We have to read 50 books this summer!  We went to the park to play with Ben's new friend  Sean and his mom and brother.  We have had several picnics in the back yard and visits to Fischer's park.  We went to see "Kung Fu Panda" too!  But the most exciting thing that has happened so far this summer is our visit to the fair and fireworks!!  Although he was very hesitant about the rides at first, one he went on a few he had a blast!  Check out Benjamin's Photos page for the complete set of pictures!

Benjamin received his first 2-wheeler bike early last summer.  It was shiny red and came complete with helmet, knee & elbow pads.  We were all set to get him riding.  Benjamin had other plans.  He was not yet ready to tackle the 2-wheeler and instead made it perfectly clear that he preferred his Big Wheel.  Even after trying on several occasions, he did not want to ride the cute red 2-wheeler.

That all changed 3 days ago.  Not only did agree to ride it, he WANTED to ride it.  But don't you know, he's grown so much that the bike was way too small for his long legs.  So, in every effort to not curb this new-found love of his 2-wheeler we agreed to get him one more his size.

So yesterday we visited Walmart (nothing) and then Target (jackpot!).  We got home and started to assemble.  Of course, there was a piece wrong and the handlebars would not go in to the frame.  So, back to Target we go, swap bikes and head home again.  Assembly went by without a hitch and we were ready to go.  Then the rain came :(

So we rode it around inside!  But Ben was anxious to get outside to ride it.  After several hours of him asking "Is it dry yet?", outside we went. Then finally, in all his glory, Benjamin rode his new bike for hours before it was was time to come in for dinner.  He is SUCH a big boy now!!!

Last Sunday we went to one of our favorite parks for a picnic lunch.  We stayed for a few hours and Benjamin made some new friends as he played on the playground.  It was beautiful weather so we brought Maggie too and we all got our feet wet in the stream. It was a perfectly memorial day!

What a busy week for Benjamin Thomas!  The first exciting event of the week was his very first experience with kite flying.  On a windy afternoon last week we headed out to the cul-de-sac and attempted to fly the kite we had bought a few weeks ago at CVS.  Although there are many trees around and not much room to run, we managed to get the kite in the air and Ben even had a chance to fly it himself.

Then on Thursday, Benjamin participated on the "Funny Feet Walk-a-thon" at school.  The children were supposed to decorate their shoes with stickers, stuffed animals, ribbon, etc. and bring them to school to wear when they participate in the event.  As you can see, much care and effort went into the creation of Benjamin's "Funny Feet".  However, the day of the walk-a-thon, Benjamin forgot to put them on at school and did the whole race in his sneakers!  Oh well!  He had fun anyways and completed a whopping 35 laps!

YARD SALE!!!  When I found out that Benjamin's Pop-Pop was going to be having a yard sale, we took this opportunity to gather up and sort through Benjamin's mountain of toys.  Although skeptical at first, Benjamin was such a BIG BOY when determining if he wanted to keep or sell his toys.  As you can see, he agreed to put a lot up for sale!

The day of the Yard Sale (yesterday) was a gorgeous day and we had a lot of customers.  Benjamin was very well behaved and had a great time running around Pop-pop and grand-mom's yard.  Even though we didn't sell all of the things we brought, we had a great time and decided to take the remainder of the toys to Good Will.  Be sure to check out more pictures on "Benjamin's Photos"

What a Great Week!!

Yesterday Benjamin attended his cousin Aidan's Kindergarten Graduation held at the Middletown Montessori School in Media, PA.  A fun time was had by all!  During the short but sweet ceremony, the graduates sang several songs and even entertained the crowd by a beautiful bell-choir song!  Each graduate came forward to share their autobiography with the audience and among many future doctors, vets, and artists, Aidan told us all his future aspiration:  becoming a professional basketball player!  Be sure to check out more snapshots of the event by visiting "Benjamin's Photos" page.

Picme 05/15/2008

One of Benjamin's favorite TV networks is PBS Sprout and it is on quite often at home.  Recently they starting airing a new show and along with it, advertisements to go on to their website to upload your picture so you could be on TV.  So, Benjamin wanted to check it out on the "dot coms" to see if he could be on TV.  This afternoon we experimented and uploaded a picture and sent it in.  But the best part of it, was a new part of the site called Picme, where you can use that same picture and cut out your child's face so that it can be put on a cartoon body.  Then, the website takes that picture and puts it on printables, games, a video and more all with your child's face in it.  Pretty nifty!  Here's a link to Benjamin's Picme Page so YOU can check it out!

Yesterday Benjamin went to his friend Malcolm's 5th birthday party at BounceU.  We had been to BounceU once before for the other Ben's birthday party a few months ago.  Benjamin was less than enthused to try climbing and bouncing last time, so we were reluctant to go again this time.  He made his mommy promise not to make him do anything he didn't want to do.  So, the first 45 minutes in the "bounce room", Benjamin did a lot of running around, but not a lot of bouncing.  Finally, his mom decided to just hoist him up and into one of the bounce toys where his friends were playing.  After a look of shock and a few falls, he declared, "This is FUN Mommy!" and that was all it took - he ran and jumped and bounced for the last 15 minutes with his friends.  After the time in the room we were escorted to the private party room where Benjamin and his friends enjoyed bagels, pizza, juice boxes and cake.  We all sang Happy Birthday to Malcolm and had a great time!  Good thing, too because we are headed back to BounceU next Sunday for Devon's party!
